How it works

As we move through the process from initial consultation to a finished master plan, we will show you specific plant and material selections to ensure that we are making decisions that will best fit your property and lifestyle. After the design and materials have been finalized, we will walk you through the estimate and implementation options. Now the truly exciting part begins: bringing the design from paper to reality!

In order to ensure that we can provide our clients with the best quality, efficiency, and precision during the design process, we offer a complimentary initial consultation. A landscape architect or designer will meet you at your property to discuss your concerns and objectives.

After understanding the opportunities and constraints of your property, we will discuss the best way to continue the design process: a site visit or landscape plan.

The initial consultation is a concise conversation that will help determine the best route for us to assist you. Drawn plans, sketches, material lists, specific plant material suggestions, or plant care conversations are not part of this consultation.

This information (and more!) will follow through our site visit or landscape plan program.

The site visit is a one-hour, on-site conversation with one of our Landscape Architects or Landscape Designers. It is best described as an informal discussion about your property while taking a walk around your property.

Topics that may be discussed include:

    • Plant identification
    • Plant care, pruning, and watering
    • Basic plant arrangement
    • Basic plant use in a given situation
    • Ideas for “problem spots” in the landscape (including privacy, screening, and shade)
    • Options to pursue additional design or planning

Drawn plans are not typically prepared as a result of a site visit, except in cases where a simple, hand-drawn sketch is adequate and can be accomplished within the hour consult.

The cost of your site visit or plan can be reduced or eliminated in the form of a 10% discount on any trees, shrubs, evergreens, or perennials that you purchase subsequent to the completion of your site visit or plan preparation and presentation. This is valid whether we do the work for you, or if you choose to do the work on your own.

Payment is due at the end of the site visit, however, should you proceed with a Landscape Plan, the site visit fee is waived.

Our landscape plans are copyrighted and prepared by an experienced Landscape Architect or Designer. They become your property when they are completed and full payment is received.

In addition to the detailed use of plant material, plans can include, but are not limited to:

    • Grading & Drainage
    • Retaining or Free-Standing Walls
    • Patios
    • Decks and Arbors
    • Lighting
    • Berms
    • Siting of Home or Building on lot
    • Stormwater Remediation
    • Shoreline Restoration
    • Children’s Environments

Fees and Compensation:

All plans require a 50% deposit at the end of the first site visit or consultation. A final payment is due when your plan is completed and submitted to you. The charge for landscape plans varies depending on your specific property and design objectives.

Median landscape plans range from $500 to $1,500. Projects requiring supplemental research or resource investment will be determined on an individual basis. At the conclusion of your site visit or consultation, we will be able to quote you the cost of your plan.

As with our site visit fee, the cost of your plan can be reduced or eliminated in the form of a 10% discount on any trees, shrubs, evergreens, or perennials that you purchase subsequent to the completion of your site visit or plan preparation and presentation. This is valid whether we do the work for you, or if you choose to do the work on your own. The discount does not expire.

If you already have a landscape plan or know what work you would like to do, including measurements, please stop in with a copy of your plan.

We will be happy to provide an estimate for our materials and services at no charge. Please call and ask to speak with one of our designers.
