  • Spread: 2’ to 3’

  • Flower Color: Mauve Pink

Why We Love It:
Little Joe Joe-Pye Weed is an herbaceous perennial with a semi-compact and upright habit of growth compared to other Joe-Pye Weed varieties. It is ideal for smaller gardens and features strong stems with attractive green foliage. Little Joe has masses of fluffy plumes of mauve-pink and lightly-scented flowers that bloom from late summer to late fall, which is much later than most other perennials.

Joe-Pye Weed is an excellent addition if you are looking to attract pollinators, especially butterflies, to your garden. Their tasty seeds will entice birds to your yard, but deer tend to leave this perennial alone!

Know Before You Plant:
Little Joe Joe-Pye Weed can take some time to establish once planted. It is important to be very diligent with watering when it is newly planted. Once it is established, it can tolerate occasional wetness or soggy areas. The leaves may scorch if soils are allowed to dry out.

Joe-Pye Weed spreads by self-seeding and some varieties can get very large, so you’ll want to give it room or it will crowd out neighboring plants in the garden.

Where It Thrives:
Little Joe Joe-Pye Weed prefers full sun to part shade and does best in average to wet soil conditions. Little Joe can be used in moist areas in borders, meadows, naturalized areas, native plant gardens, rain gardens or water margins.
