Orange You Glad We Have Another Recommendation For You?
- Hardiness Range: 5-9
- Height: 30 inches
- Spread: 12 inches
- Exposure: Full to Partial Sun
- Bloom Color: Orange and Yellow
Why We Love It:
Orange Pekoe® Crocosmia features orange tubular flowers with yellow overtones gracefully arching above the foliage from mid to late summer, which emerge from distinctive scarlet flower buds. The flowers are excellent for cutting and attract hummingbirds all season.
Know Before You Plant:
Orange Pekoe® Crocosmia is an herbaceous perennial with an upright spreading habit of growth. This is a relatively low maintenance plant, and should be cut back in late fall in preparation for winter. It is even sizeable enough that it can be grown alone in a suitable container. Note that when growing plants in outdoor containers and baskets, they may require more frequent waterings than they would in the yard or garden.
Where It Thrives:
It does best in average to evenly moist conditions, but will not tolerate standing water. It is not particularly attractive to deer who tend to leave it alone in favor of tastier treats. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution. Orange Pekoe® Crocosmia is a fine choice for the garden, but it is also a good selection for planting in outdoor pots and containers.
