Why We Love It:
Sem False Spirea is truly a work of art. This compact shrub has fern-like foliage that emerges with rich shades of pink and red that fade to a bright chartreuse. It blooms in the summer with showy white plumes of flowers, and in the fall, its foliage turns an attractive copper-bronze. It has smooth bark and rose-colored branches that add significant winter interest to your landscape.

This compact deciduous shrub is a relatively fast grower and will reach a height of 4 to 6 feet tall and spread to about 4 to 6 feet wide. Sem False Spirea will provide moderate height, but leave your view intact!

Know Before You Plant:
Once Sem False Spirea has established, it will send out root suckers that can contribute to it spreading and forming a thicket. While this may require some maintenance, it can be a benefit when planted as a low hedge or filling an open space that does not need to be maintained.

Where It Thrives:
Sem False Spirea performs best when planted in full sun to partial shade. It can be used as foundation plantings, low hedges, erosion control on slopes, and to naturalize open areas.
